What Is an Intensive Outpatient Program?

An intensive outpatient program (IOP) is a level of care between residential and regular outpatient services. IOPs are designed to provide medically supervised, intensive interventions for individuals with mental health disorders in a clinical setting

Clients can expect to receive individual therapy sessions, group sessions, and medication management from highly specialized clinicians dedicated to helping them succeed in both their short-term and long-term goals. We understand that every person’s journey is different, which is why our intensive outpatient program near Atlanta provides flexible hours for completing program requirements.

Types of IOP Programs We Offer

We offer two types of IOP programs – a day program and an evening IOP program. Both programs provide the same level of care and flexibility with the structure to help you be successful in recovery. Our day program allows you to attend sessions during the day so you can be home or work in the afternoons and evenings.

Our evening program provides the added flexibility for people who have daytime commitments and cannot participate in our day program. Clients attend sessions in the evening, leaving their mornings and afternoons free.

Overcome mental health disorders with evidence-based, expert care.

IOP Schedule

Depending on the IOP you select, you meet Monday through Friday from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm for our day program or Monday through Thursday from 6 pm to 9 pm for our evening program. Please note that the hours of the program may change or be adjusted to fit your specific needs to provide you with the flexibility you require when seeking addiction treatment.

What Is the Difference Between IOP and PHP?

Many people become confused about the difference between an intensive outpatient program (IOP) and a partial hospitalization program (PHP). IOPs focus on providing clients with intensive therapy services in an outpatient setting, while PHP offers a higher level of services, including the same therapies as IOP, plus additional medical attention.

The main difference is that PHP is a full-day program, typically eight hours per day, five times a week. Whereas an IOP only requires three hours per day, five times a week, depending on individual needs.
